“Those who know us recommend Walter”😊
Why Walters? I have been asked that many times now. Quite simply, it is my nickname in the village – one of them😊 My official name is Martin Fromke, and I also live in Weidelbach with my family.
Anyone who now thinks I am an experienced hotelier or make my living in construction should hear me say: no, neither of those is true. Since training as a freight forwarding clerk in 1991, I have been active in the transport industry and have been running my own forwarding company for 22 years now.
Buildings, especially those in need of renovation, have always fascinated me. Over the years, I bought one here and there, renovated and spruced them up in my free time, and then rented them out.
When the former administration building of Gerhardt & Weigel was up for sale, I looked at it right away and saw a great deal of potential. Something could be made of this, I thought at the time, and later I was lucky enough to win the bid. What was just as quickly clear to me, however, was that a lot of work lay ahead of us.
During the sales negotiations, I used the time to exchange ideas with operators of comparable accommodation, potential guests, tradespeople, friends, family and employees.
And how valuable that was, because everyone had something to contribute: experience, ideas, encouragement, but also words of caution. All of this flowed into the planning and realization of Walters and ultimately made it what it is today.
While Walters is now initially opening with 13 lovingly furnished rooms on the ground and lower floors, the next construction phase is already waiting for us: the roof and its conversion into 4 cozy holiday apartments. We expect completion in late summer 2027.
Now we hope that life will move into Walters and that we will be able to welcome many guests from near and far in the coming weeks, months and years.
With this in mind, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to and worked on this wonderful project, and we warmly welcome you, our guests, from now on.
Yours, Martin Fromke
